The Social Media Checklist

Business owners often have so many things to juggle when it comes to day to day business operations. Throw in a social media plan and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. The team here at Vionic has put together a short social media checklist to help you streamline your social media efforts and give you the confidence that you can, in fact, benefit from all that social media has to offer your business.

Daily

Check your social media accounts and:

Respond to all messages that have been sent to you. Social media is an excellent extension of your existing customer service and support channels. Use this as an opportunity to quickly go above and beyond for your customers while immediately addressing their questions.

Engage with you page fans. If someone has commented on a post or publicly asked you a question, take a moment to acknowledge and thank them for reaching out. Creating a conversation makes your business look approachable and genuinely interested in responding to customer needs.

See what your competition is up to. Checking in on the competition ensures that you’re not missing out on key campaigns that they may be running that could affect your bottom line. It also gives you the opportunity to see what their customers are saying about them and potentially what is being said about you.

Post to your pages. Posting daily keeps you in the forefront of your page fans/ customer’s minds and helps you establish a strong brand presence, increasing awareness and consideration. It’a free and simple way to advertise for free every day!

Weekly

Find opportunities to cross-promote with another business. For example, if you’re a yoga studio, find similarly aligned, but non- competing marketing partners like an organic juice shop and offer to post about their business in exchange for them posting about yours. Doing this will open your business up to their followers and potentially gain you customers and page fans.

Continue to build upon you editorial calendar with new content. Taking an hour each week to create new content will save you the headache of having to do it daily. Making this a habit will help you streamline your social media marketing efforts.

Check your insights and analytics. Make sure that the time you spend on social media is helping you achieve your business goals. If your page is set up to be a customer service and brand awareness tool for your business, make sure you’re tracking post reach and engagement. If you’re actively advertising, it’s imperative to see what your ROI is on your ad spend so make sure you’re getting the most bang for your buck!

Search and engage with influencers. Use your social media pages to start a conversation and develop a relationship with influential people in your industry. Influencers are people who are active on social media and have large followings within your industry and social space. Find someone that will help you promote your business and brand and let their voice be a megaphone to new potential customers!

Monthly

Perform an audit of your pages. Taking a look at your social media pages’ performance over the month will help you to establish if you’re meeting your social media goals and achieving your overall marketing objectives. This is a great opportunity to make adjustments to your strategy as well as understand how your audience is using your social media pages to communicate with your business.

Add to your content strategy. The key to a successful page is having a diverse content mix that keeps page fans engaged and coming back for more. Take a look at the content that you’ve posted over the last month. What worked? What didn’t? Take what worked add more of it to your editorial calendar to ensure you’re delivering the content that your audience values most.

We know that this checklist isn’t going to be one-size fits all solution for everyone but it a great start for any business owner who needs a little help and direction with getting started on social.
